Common Apricot (lat. Prúnus armeniaca) grows under the hot sun of the Caucasus and Central Asia. In early spring, even before the appearance of the first leaves, the branches of this tree of the Prunus genus of the Rosaceae family are covered with hundreds of delicate, fragrant flowers. And after a few months, the fruits ripen - juicy and velvety, like the cheek of a young beauty. Coincidentally, apricot kernel oil has been known since ancient times for its cosmetic properties: it makes the skin more tender and elastic, intensively nourishes and rejuvenates.
The birthplace of the apricot is the mountainous Tien Shan and Armenia. Since ancient times, Armenians have considered the apricot as their national treasure: it was believed that it was the only fruit tree on Noah's ark, and its fruits heal from twelve different diseases. Indeed, ripe apricots are rich in fruit acids, carotene and potassium salts, which are so beneficial for the heart, blood vessels and kidneys. Apricot seeds also contain many valuable substances. For 35-50% they consist of fatty oil, which is squeezed out in a cold way.
Components
Apricot kernel oil is similar in composition to almond and peach oils, but has a lighter texture. Due to the abundance of phospholipids, the oil is quickly absorbed without leaving a greasy sheen.
Vitamin E (tocopherol acetate) is a powerful antioxidant, also known as the "vitamin of youth". Protects the skin from oxidative stress, slows down age-related processes, strengthens the skin's immunity.
Vitamin C is another antioxidant that protects cell DNA from damage by free radicals and ultraviolet radiation, and the skin from premature aging.
Fatty acids nourish the skin, restore its healthy radiance and smooth fine wrinkles. Apricot kernel oil contains slightly less saturated acids than peach and almond oils, but more essential polyunsaturated linoleic acid, which is the main component of the protective lipid barrier of our skin. Saturated with linoleic acid, the skin retains moisture better, recovers, and calms down.
