Karipazim is made from Prokaripazim dry extract, obtained from the dried milky juice of the unripe papaya fruit (Carica papaya L., family Caricaceae). The dry extract is dissolved in water for injection, followed by sterile filtration and freeze-drying. Chemically, the preparation is a combination of water-soluble proteolytic enzymes, the active components of which are papain, chymopapain A, chymopapain B, peptidase A, and peptidase B. It exhibits proteolytic activity. The preparation breaks down necrotic tissue and liquefies viscous secretions, exudates, and blood clots. Its action is similar to that of Lekozyme and its components.
